Integrating environmental sustainability into our everyday business operations

Our location services teams are making ongoing improvements to reduce waste in our offices. In the past fiscal year, they added or expanded recycling programs in more than 30 offices, switched more than 40 offices to more eco-friendly products, eliminated the use of Styrofoam products in all offices and installed beverage dispensers that have greatly reduced the use of single-use bottles. Our new offices in India opened with a commitment to environmental sustainability by integrating our eco-friendly practices from the start, including the elimination of single-use plastics.

Trash Dash

In September 2024, our people, along with their families and friends, picked up trash in their local communities during the third annual Trash Dash.

Our El Salvador office held their Trash Dash event at Toluca Beach. Volunteers gathered to participate in a beach cleanup, collecting trash along the coast. They joined forces with the local wildlife organization FUNZEL for a memorable turtle release, sending baby olive ridley sea turtle hatchlings into their natural habitat.

This collaborative event symbolized a fresh start and the importance of protecting marine life. Both activities aimed to raise awareness about environmental conservation and encouraged community participation in eco-friendly initiatives.

KidsGardening

At RSM, we believe in nurturing the potential of young minds and fostering a love for nature. Our relationship with KidsGardening exemplifies this commitment, as we work together to create enriching educational experiences through gardening.

KidsGardening provides children with hands-on learning opportunities, teaching them about plant biology, environmental stewardship and healthy eating. Through our collaboration, we've supported the development of school gardens, allowing students to cultivate their own plants and understand the importance of sustainable practices.

This past year, our people volunteered nearly 2,000 hours supporting gardens at local organizations and schools. Notably, our Seattle office spearheaded a complete garden build at Broadview Thomson K-8 School. The Seattle team dedicated a day to constructing garden beds, worm bins, workbenches, a shed and more, creating a vibrant outdoor learning space for students. This garden will annually benefit nearly 400 students, providing them with ongoing gardening opportunities and resources.
